Abstract
908,448. Hollow rollers. SMITH PAPER MILLS Ltd., HOWARD. March 7, 1960, No. 7954/60. Class 34 (1). A non-rotatable siphon scraper assembly for removing condensate from a rotary steamheated drier drum 1, Fig. 1, comprises relatively slidable telescopic tubes 13, 16 of which the tube 16 is secured to a plate 17 to which are bolted thermosetting resin scraper members 18 shaped to engage the inner surface of the drum, and of which the tube 13 is secured in a sleeve 10 by flanges 11 and bolts 12, the sleeve 10 extending from a member 8. The tubes 13, 16 are prevented from relative rotation by a rod 24, carried parallel to the tube 13 on collars 23, engaging in a bore in a flange 25 secured to the tube 16. The member 8 engages a seating surface in the end 6 of a fixed steam supply pipe 5 provided with outlets 7 and passing through a hollow trunnion 4 in the end wall 3 of the drum. The member 8 has a threaded opening 14 engaged by the end of a fixed condensate tube 15 passing through the pipe 5 to an exterior drain pipe. The plate 17 and scrapers 18 are of such size as to permit passage through the trunnion 4 whilst the pipe 5 and siphon scraper are aligned. The siphon scraper subsequently pivots in the end 6 to thereafter permit connection of the tube 15 to the member 8.
