Abstract

908,366. Refrigerating. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. May 2, 1961 [May 2, 1960], No. 15351/60. Class 29. [Also in Group XL (a)] An ozonizer 1 is cooled by evaporation of liquid carbon tetrafluoride, and this vapour is re-condensed by heat exchange with liquid oxygen which is itself thereby vaporized to provide the gaseous oxygen feed to the ozonizer. As shown, the ozonizer 1 is immersed in liquid carbon tetrafluoride in container 2 and gaseous carbon tetrafluoride is passed through a heat exchange coil 7 immersed in liquid oxygen in an annular container 3. Gaseous oxygen from container 3 passes through a heat exchange coil 10 immersed in the liquid carbon tetrafluoride and into ozonizer 1, a gaseous ozoneoxygen mixture leaving the latter through line 4. Valve-controlled inlets for additional liquid are provided in containers 2 and 3.
