A nibbling machine comprises a body provided with a workpiece support surface and a reciprocating cutter disposed adjacent the support surface so as to chip the edge of a workpiece supported on the said surface, the said cutter being carried by a mounting member which is carried by the body on the same side of the workpiece as the support surface, and means for reciprocating the mounting member relative to the body. The machine includes a body 10 with a handle 11, an air motor 14 and a silencer 12. At the end of the motor shaft 16 is an eccentric 17 which runs in roller bearings 22 retained within a housing 23 which has flat surfaces 24 and 25, (Fig. 2, not shown). The housing is disposed in a flat-sided opening 26, (Fig. 2, not shown), in a plunger 27, (Fig. 2, not shown), which reciprocates in a bush 34 mounted in the body 10. The end 30 of a cutter 31 is screwed into the plunger 27 and locked by a screw 32. At the other end of the cutter is a reduced portion 40 the upper edge 41 of which forms a cutting edge. Part of the exhaust air from the motor passes via a pipe 45 to a passage 43 in the die and blows chips out of the space 42, the remainder of the exhaust air escapes through holes 47 in the silencer 12. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the upper end of the part 31 is threaded and a replaceable cutter is screwed on and locked by a nut, and the die comprises a die holder screwed into the body 10 and adapted to receive a die which is externally of frusto-conical shape and is locked by a clamp nut.
