907,603. Gins. MURRAY CO. OF TEXAS Inc. April 21, 1961 [May 9, 1960; Nov. 23, 1960], No. 14483/61. Class 120 (1). A cotton gin has means for removing inadequately ginned material from a feed roller and returning it to a feeding position. The feed roller 43 transfers material from the hopper 9 to the area of knives 49, 56 and ginning roller 42. Cotton and seeds carried around with the feed roller 43 are caught by a sawtoothed roller or a spiked separator roller 36 that causes separation of seeds from each other and from adhering linters. Freed linters are doffed by a reclaiming brush 38 and thrown back into the hopper 9. Separated seeds drop through gratings 62, 63. In order to retain stationary knife 49 against the face of the ginning roller 42, hydraulic mechanism is provided including cylinders 53 and piston-rods 54. A feed control vane 68 is biased away from a stop bracket 71 and is associated with a switch in such manner that, when the vane 68 is pressed down by weight of cotton, delivery of material to the hopper 9 from an independently driven delivery unit is stopped. An hydraulic control system for this independent delivery unit is described.
