Abstract

907,523. Multiple fastenings. MICROCELL Ltd., and SHERMAN, R. July 25, 1961 [July 26, 1960], No. 25996/60. Class 44. A safe door mechanism comprises bolts 10 fixed on a carrier 11 provided with tail bars 12, 13 slidable in guides 14, 15 on the door by means of a handle 16. The tail bar 12 is formed with a notch 21 which receives a bolt 22 controlled by a key-actuated lock 23 and having a part 24 engageable with a bolt 25 having a part 28 which engages in a notch 29 in the bar 13 to lock the bar 13 against axial movement. An additional locking mechanism comprises a bolt 31 extending opposite a notch 34 in the bar 13, the bolt 31 having a reduced portion 32 surrounded by a spring 35 and connected to a cable 36 so that when the cable is severed the bolt 31 moves into locking engagement with the notch 34. The bolt 31 is held in this locking position by a spring-urged bolt 39 which moves so as to underlie the enlarged portion of the bolt 31. The cable also passes through a hole in a bracket 48 attached to the lock 23, the hole having a shearing edge so that should the lock be forced inwardly the cable would be cut to operate the additional locking mechanism.
