Abstract
907,458. Cooling reactors. UNITED KING- DOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. June 12, 1961 [June 23, 1960], No. 22110/60. Class 39 (4). In a CO 2 gas cooled, graphite moderated reactor a test element, through which gas normally is circulated is provided with an emergency gas circulating device to operate upon failure of the coolant pump. As shown, the pump 4 circulates coolant gas up the centre flow path 22 and downwards through annular channel 23 of the test loop 1. After failure of 4, high pressure coolant from reservoir 9 is admitted to the coolant circuit through injector 8 which maintains the flow round 1.
