Abstract

907,373. Turbines, elastic fluid; axial flow compressors. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. June 8, 1961 [June 14, 1960], No. 20775/61. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). An operating ring driven in a circumferential direction for adjusting pivotably mounted guide vanes in a turbine or compressor is suspended in the machine housing so as to be movable in the plane of the ring by means of a joint quadrangle or kinematically equivalent means with the centre of the ring offset from the centre of the machine. Guide vanes 12 in a gas turbine are adjusted by means of a lever 17 pivoted to a ring 15. The ring is driven circumferentially by a linkage 14 operating a bell-crank 13 with a slot engaging a ball-ended spigot 16. The ring is suspended in the turbine housing A by two links 19, 20 whose projected axes intersect perpendicularly at the centre 21 of the ring. The centre 21 of the ring is offset from the centre 23 of the rotor 18 by an amount 24 along the bisector of the angle 22 towards the links so as to reduce the error due to transverse movement of the ring during adjustment of the guide vanes.
