906,472. Flock-coated fabrics. VEREINIGTE GLANZSTOFF - FABRIKEN A.G. July 14, 1960 [July 14, 1959], No. 24614/60. Class 140. Velvet-like textile products are produced by impregnating tows of filaments of a fully synthetic material with an emulsion of an ester of a fatty acid containing from 12 to 20 carbon atoms, e.g. stearic acid polyglycol ester, cutting the tows in the wet state to form a flock, opening the cut flocks by vigorous stirring in a solution containing sodium or potassium salts as well as an anti-electrostatic agent, drying the treated flocks and applying them in a high-voltage electric field to a material provided with an adhesive coating. The opening of the flocks may be effected in a bath at a temperature of at least 65‹ C. Specified materials to be flocked are fibre fleece of rayon fibres, textile or knitted fabrics, e.g. cotton fabric, foils, paper and foam rubber. Specified adhesives are polyacrylic acid ester and polyacrylonitrile. Sodium and potassium salts specified are sodium sulphate, potassium nitrate, sulphate, chloride, carbonate and bicarbonate, and mixtures thereof. Electrostatic agents specified are derivatives of fatty acids or fatty alcohols of high molecular weight, expecially their ethoxylated derivatives, polymerized quaternary organic nitrogen compounds, polyglycol esters, and phosphoric acid esters. Filaments of polyamide and polyester are specified. The adhesive may be printed on the base material in the form of a pattern.
