905,654. Circuit assemblies; resistors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and NEEDLE, C. D. T. Oct. 11, 1960 [Oct. 13, 1959], No. 34668/59. Class 37. An electrical component assembly comprises a plurality of electrical circuit components 2, 3, 4, encased in a block 14 of potting resin with connections made within the block between the components and a plurality of connecting strips 15, 16, 17, 18, which project outside one end of the block to provide input and output points 5, 7 and a common terminal 9 and outside the other end of the block to provide intermediate connection points 10, 11, 12, 13, the arrangement being such that by connecting together intermediate points 10, 11, input and output points 5, 7 are connected directly together while point 9 is isolated therefrom while by connecting together intermediate points 12, 13 a component is connected between each of the pairs of terminals 5 and 7, 5 and 9, 7 and 9. A connector, Fig. 3, comprising a helical spring 27, arranged within a nylon sleeve 28, as described in Specification 905,653, and of a suitable size to be a push fit over connection points 10, 11 or 12, 13 is provided to make the connection between either pair of intermediate points. Insulating spacers 22, 23 are arranged between intermediate points 10, 11 and 12, 13, respectively. The components 2, 3, 4 are preferably all resistors connected in a #-configuration, Fig. 2 (not shown), to serve as an attenuator pad which can either be connected into circuit between terminals 5 and 7 or removed therefrom by placing the connector over points 12, 13 or over points 10, 11, respectively. Fig. 4 shows multiple attenuator unit comprising a plurality of attenuator pads clamped together between brackets 35, 36 by threaded rods 33, 34 which are located in grooves 43, Fig. 1, in the sides of the pads. Adjacent input and output terminals 5, 7 on successive pads are connected together as are also all the common terminals 9. A desired value of attenuation may be inserted by the unit by appropriately positioning the connector units.
