Abstract

758,977. Terminal boards. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. June 15, 1954, No. 17509/54. Class 38 (1). A terminal adaptor block for attachment to an existing terminal block, e.g. at the end of a telephone line, comprises an insulating frame, Fig. 2, with a transverse support 13 carrying terminals 1 ... 4 between pairs of which are connected equalizing components such as a capacitor 17 and resistor 16 located in recesses 14, 15. The terminals are connected to spring plungers 18 on the opposite face of the support, which, when the block is superimposed on the existing terminal block 5, Fig. 1, connect with the terminals 1 ... 4 of the latter. The blocks are secured together by a screw engaging holes 19, 8, the cover of the terminal block being placed over the adaptor block. Fig. 8 shows another embodiment wherein the terminals 1A ... 4A of the adaptor block 27 are interconnected with the terminals 1B ... 4B of the terminal block 25 by screws 1C ... 4C passing through plain holes in the terminals 1A ... 4A and entering tapped holes in terminals 1B ... 4B, at the same time serving to hold the blocks together. The terminals may carry soldering tags for the permanent connections to avoid attaching two wires to one screw. The adaptor block may be situated below the terminal block in which case the terminals 1B ... 4B in Fig. 8 will have plain holes for the screws 1C ... 4C and the latter will enter tapped holes in terminals 1A ... 4A. Spring plungers may replace the connecting screws in Fig. 8.
