905,486. Control of D.C. motors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 4, 1959 [Dec. 5, 1957], No. 37896/57. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] D.C. traction motors M1, M2 are supplied with variable voltage current through rectifier bridges 30, 31 by tap-changing gear 16, 17 on separate secondary windings 14, 15 of supply transformer 11. The tap-changing gear is controlled by a driver's controller and the currents in the two secondary windings are equalized by connecting the windings 32, 34 of a current equalizing transformer 33 in the load circuits. Transformer 33 also serves to limit the fault current if one of the motors is short circuited. Specification 832,934 is referred to.
