Abstract
860,828. Automatic control systems for rectifier power supplies. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 21, 1957 [March 21, 1956], No. 9356/57. Class 38 (4). In a D.C. power supply system only one main rectifier is voltage-regulated by a device provided with a datum voltage source, the other rectifiers being regulated in dependence upon a quantity supplied by this rectifier. Two main rectifiers 1, 2 supply a common load 5 connected to D.C. bus-bars 3, 4. Rectifier 1 is controlled via amplifier 13 by voltage regulator 8, which compares the D.C. output voltage with a stabilized voltage derived from the line voltage of the 3-phase supply. The output voltage level is set by rheostat 29. Load-sharing between the rectifiers is achieved by comparing the I.R. drop across series resistors 18, 19 in their respective load circuits. Any difference causes a circulating current between them in a circuit including the current control windings of amplifiers (e.g. magnetic) 13, 20 whereby the rectifiers' conduction is varied to balance the load. An auxiliary rectifier 6 is connected so that its output voltage, added to the bus-bar voltage, charges a battery 7. The auxiliary rectifier is controlled by voltage regulator 21, which compares the output voltage across lines 26, 27 with the bus-bar voltage across lines 22, 23. Mention is made of connecting the main rectifiers to the load in succession, in dependence upon the load.
