Abstract

1365149 Standby apparatus LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS GmbH 9 Nov 1971 [12 Nov 1970] 51938/71 Heading H2H A supply system particularly for a satellite comprises two sources of voltage each of which is associated with a control device, the operating signal for one of which devices is derived from the other device. Load devices 8, 9 of a satellite are supplied either from a solar generator 1 or from the generator and a battery 2 which may be charged, under certain conditions from the solar generator by closing a switch 10, the charging current being controlled by a device 3. The voltage applied to the loads is maintained constant by means of a shunt regulating device 6, 7 which may be of any suitable type, means being provided in the regulating device to produce a signal which is dependent upon the current flowing in the regulating device 6, 7. This signal is fed as the control signal to a unit 4 which controls the rate of discharge of the battery 2 when the battery is assisting the solar generator 1 in supplying the loads 8, 9. Thus the output of the battery is controlled according to the power output of the solar generator. The means for producing the signal used for controlling the unit 4 comprises, inter alia, a pair of transistors and a Zener diode for setting a reference value.
