Abstract

904,432. Cleaning devices; handles. BETTERWEAR PRODUCTS Ltd. Oct. 3, 1960 [Nov. 11, 1959], No. 38211/59. Classes 19 and 61. A cleaning device comprises a cleaning head 1, an adaptor 3 for attachment to a handle 6, and a universal ball-joint connection between the cleaning head and the adaptor. The universal ball-joint connection comprises an internally screw-threaded socket 10, a ball 9 carried by an arm 8, a tubular externally screw-threaded plug 12 adapted to screw into the socket 10 and through which the ball may be passed, and a cup-like member or cap 16 having flexible walls and which is capable of being fitted over the ball after the latter has been passed through the bore of the plug. In order to prevent the withdrawal of the ball from the plug the plug 12 is screwed into the socket 10 which compresses the cap 16 around the ball. A cap may be placed over the cleaning head which is preferably triangular and secured either by means of bands around the projections at the corners of the back 2 or clipped on. The cleaning layer may comprise a number of different coloured sponge-like layers.
