Abstract
<PICT:0904047/IV(a)/1> <PICT:0904047/IV(a)/2> <PICT:0904047/IV(a)/3> A method of dry spinning comprises injecting air in a longitudinal direction parallel to the direction of spinning, said air being injected into a perforated gas permeable hood (1, 2 or 3) mounted directly below the spinnerets 4 of the spinning cell, the longitudinal axis of said hood being parallel to the direction of flow of the spun filaments. The length of the hood may extend to the middle part of the drawing zone A (as in Fig. 1) or to the middle part of the subsequent drying zone B (Fig. 2) or over the total length of the spinning cell (Fig. 3). The hood may be made of wire gauze of 10-300 mesh, and may have local differences in mesh size.
