903,826. Earth-boring apparatus; soilstabilizing apparatus. WIMPEY & CO. Ltd., GEORGE, SCOTT, A. C., and CALDERWOOD W. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40803/59. Classes 68 (1) and 85. Mounted in the lower end of an earth - boring auger formed by one or more coupled tubular sections 10 having external flights 11 extending the length of each section is is either a nose plug 35 that can be withdrawn up through the auger or a nose plug with a passage or passages extending therethrough. Thus when the auger has been entered into the ground either a soil-consolidating fluid can be injected into the sub-soil or fluid can be withdrawn from the subsoil through the sections 10 or through a pipe that is entered into the auger subsequent to the removal of the nose plug therefrom or is connected to the apertured plug. A boring bit 38 may be mounted in the lower end of the plug.
