Abstract

902,650. Manhole frames and covers. BROADS MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd., and ROBINSON, G. April 7, 1961 [Aug. 22, 1960], No. 29034/60. Class 107. A manhole cover 36 has corrugated sides 6 nesting in complementary frame members 2, the upper portions 8 and 3 of the sides 6 and members 2 respectively being substantially vertical. A lifting key may be inserted in a boss 10 on opposite sides of the cover through a slot 15 in a screw cap 14 and, when turned, bears against a member 13. A locking bolt (not shown) may be passed through an aperture 16 in the cover 36 to engage in a nut 17 welded to a bracket 18 secured to the frame. An anchor plate 4 is welded to each comer of the frame. In another embodiment only two opposite sides of the frame and cover are corrugated, and a shape other than rectangular may be used.
