In a comparative speed indicator in which a vehicle-driven pointer 5 and a clock-driven pointer 6 are rotated over a clock dial 7 and in which change speed gearing 2, 3 allows a gear ratio to be selected in accordance with a desired average speed, gears 15, 16 to drive a trip indicator 18 are inserted between a one-way drive clutch 11, 12 and the gearing 2, 3 in the transmission from a vehicle driven worm 8 to the pointer 5. Thus a drive independent of the vehicle drive may be imparted to the indicator 18 and pointer 5 by turning a wheel 13. The indicator 18 may also be zeroized independently of the shaft 17 and the timepiece may be a stop watch. Specification 665,669 is referred to.
