Abstract
A basic lining material suitable for repairing the refractory lining of rotary drum furnaces at temperatures in excess of 600 DEG C. consists of a mixture of dolomite, tar in a quantity not exceeding 11% by weight of the dolomite and hard pitch such that the total pitch content (derived from the pitch contained in the tar and from the hard pitch) is from 7 to 25%, preferably from 10 to 18%, of the weight of the lining material. According to an example, the lining material consisted of 83% dolomite, 9% tar (containing 60% pitch) and 8% hard pitch; the total pitch content thus amounted to 13,4% by weight.
