The subject-matter of this Specification is included in Specification 900,635 but the claim is concerned with pneumatic separating equipment for fibrous material, for example, tobacco, in which the material is supplied to a pressure feed pipe from a ripping device and then subjected to pneumatic separating action in a separating chamber, characterized in that a compensating duct is provided the lower end of which communicates through a control valve with the feed pipe opening adjacent the entry point to the separating chamber while the other end of the compensating duct opens into the upper part of the separating chamber.
