[Also in Group XXVIII] A bonding structure for securing an inner cylindrical body of titanium, titanium base alloy, zirconium or zirconium base alloy to an outer cylindrical body of metal other than those mentioned, comprises a ring of the metal of the inner body extending around the inner body and a ring of the metal of the outer body extending around the ring on the inner body, the rings being mechanically secured and brazed together. A titanium shell 1, Fig. 1, is welded at 3, 3 to a threaded titanium ring 2 and engaged in the ring 2 is a threaded ring 5 of steel or stainless steel welded at 6 to a jacket of steel or stainless steel. In addition the junction 7, 7 of the rings is brazed by silver or silver alloy. The lower end of the shell and jacket may be similarly bonded. In a modification the titanium ring is of L shape and the steel ring is seated on the foot of the L, the upper and lower edges of the rings are brazed by silver or silver alloy and several titanium screws are threaded from inside the shell through the inner ring into the outer ring and their heads are arc welded to the shell. The screws may be inserted from the outside. In another modification, a cylindrical steel vessel 21, Fig. 3, with a titanium liner 22 is welded at 25 to a threaded steel ring 24 arranged in an opening in the vessel wall and seating on the liner. An enlarged threaded portion 23 on a titanium tube 20 is engaged in the ring 24 to extend into the vessel, the junction between the rings being brazed at 26<SP>1</SP> with silver or silver alloy and the tube and liner being welded at 26.
