Abstract

900,199. Frequency changing. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. March 2, 1961, No. 7591/61. Class 40 (6). A crystal mixer 12 is held in a coaxial mount comprising an outer cylinder 10 attached by means of a flange 14 to mounting-block 15 which is soldered to one element 16 of a strip line. The central conductor of the crystal engages a pin 11 passing through insulators 20, 25 and an aperture in the line element 16, and which is coupled to the other line element 18 by means of a fixed condenser comprising plates 21, 22 and dielectric 23. The shunt capacity between the pin 11 and line element 16 is made variable by means of a variable condenser comprising conductive disc 24 attached to the pin, dielectric washer 25 and a movable element comprising slider 26. Slot 27 in slider 26 prevents contact with the pins 10, and the slider may be held by means of a clamp 28. The arrangement is such that the crystal mount is inductive and resonates at the working frequency with the fixed and variable condensers which form an adjustable impedance-matching network.
