900,005. Laminates. CARBORUNDUM CO. Ltd. (Carborundum Co.). Feb. 10, 1961, No. 4993/61. Addition to 882,606. Class 140. [Also in Group XXIII] Laminated abrasive articles are made by calendering a thin sheet of non-woven textile fibrous material to compact it, coating one side with a thermoplastic elastomeric material, followed by a coating of abrasive grains and drying, impregnating the material with a heathardenable binder and partially curing, cutting and superposing blanks from the material, and consolidating the layers with heat and pressure. The fibrous material may be a blend of cotton and cellulose acetate fibres, the coating material an aqueous emulsion of casein and polychloroprene, and the impregnant a phenolaldehyde resin.
