Abstract

The invention comprises a compound having the formula <FORM:0899996/IV (b)/1> and a process for preparing hexadecadrol 21-mesylate in which hexadecadrol is reacted with methane sulphonyl chloride to form its 21-mesylate. Said 21-mesylate is subsequently reacted with an alkali metal salt of m-sulphobenzoic acid, in a polar solvent to obtain hexadecadrol 21-m-sulphobenzoate.
