Abstract
899,591. Vehicle lighting systems. KREID. LERS METALL - UND DRAHTWERKE G.m.b.H. July 2, 1959 [July 2, 1958], No. 22785/59. Class 38 (4). To prevent overloading of an auxiliary load in an A.C. electrical system for a light vehicle, comprising a main load, such as a headlamp, and an auxiliary load, such as a brake lamp or an audible warning device, a switching system is provided which ensures that when the auxiliary load is switched on, the main load, or a substitute therefor, is also energized. In the system shown, the loading of an A.C. generator, which feeds a headlamp 3 and brake lamp 5 over switches 2, 4, respectively, is maintained constant, irrespective of which of these switches is operated, by the provision of substitute loads 6, 8 controlled by switches 7, 9 ganged, respectively, to switches 2, 4. In a modified circuit arrangement, with switches 2, 4 open, the A.C. generator has no load. In another embodiment, resistances 6, 8 and switches 7, 9 are omitted, whilst switch 4 is a double-action switch, operation of which simultaneously connects both brake lamp 5 and headlamp 3 into circuit by bridging switch 2.
