Abstract
899,469. Electromagnetic relays. GIBIE, L. May 18, 1960 [May 29, 1959], No. 17587/60. Class 38 (5). In a relay having its armature 4 hinged on a bimetal 5 and biased by an adjustable spring 7, the gap between the core 1 and armature 4 is bounded by a flat surface and a convex surface. In Fig. 4, the surface 3 of the core is flat and the surface 4a of the armature is curved. In Fig. 7, the armature surface 4b is flat and the core face 3a is cylindrical, or spherical or elipsoidal. The bimetal hinge 5 may, as shown in Fig. 8, be welded to the frame 2 and slotted at 12 to limit heat transfer.
