899,332. Reducing tension in moving forms. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. Oct. 17, 1960 [Nov. 12, 1959], No. 38398/59. Class 120(2) [Also in Group VIII] The tension of a moving thread I is reduced or eliminated by passing the moving thread around a roller 5 rotated at a speed greater than that of the thread and creating an air flow 23 which has at least one component of motion, in the direction of travel of the thread, acting at or near the point of departure of the thread from the roller. The air flow may be created by the roller itself and emerges from a partial annular space formed between the surface of the roller and vanes 19 and 21, Fig. 1. Alternatively, the air flow may be produced by an air jet or air turbine 29, Fig. 3, enclosed in a shaped casing 37.
