Abstract

898,860. Cooling cement clinker. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. Nov. 16, 1960 [Nov. 21, 1959], No. 39397/60. Class 51 (2). A vertical shaft for cooling cement clinker discharged from a rotary furnace 1 comprises a fixed roof 8 with an offset feed duct 5, a rotary shaft 6 carrying crusher arms 9, and a grate 10 with slots or perforations 16 disposed above a wind-box 11 having an air duct 15. Co-operating teeth 17 on the arms 9 and the grate 10 crush the large material, the number of teeth on the grate being several times the number on the arms. The latter may be of cruciform or arcuate shape. Cooled material collects in a shoot 12 feeding a conveyer 13. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the arms and grate slope downwardly towards a central discharge shaft fixed to the arms and enclosing an obliquely disposed frusto-conical crusher which may also rotate.
