Abstract

898,657. Forage harvesters. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. April 28, 1960, No. 14909/60. Class 6(3). In a harvester of the type comprising flails mounted on a driven, rotary shaft 19, the shaft is formed on opposed sides with registering pairs of slots 24, 24<SP>1</SP> and 25, 251 for receiving spring steel cutter-mounting straps 30, 31. The straps are held in the slots, partly by lugs on the shaft engaging apertures in the straps, and partly by bolts 51 which urge each pair of straps against the intermediate'portion of the shaft 19. Each bolt 51 also serves to locate a sleeve 49 passing through apertures in the end of a cutter blade 42. The shaft 19 may be of any cross-section, and may be either hollow or solid.
