Abstract

898,017. Percussive tools. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. April 6, 1960 [April 7, 1959], No. 12157/60. Class 124. An electrically driven percussive tool comprises a fan the air induced by which is divided and distributed so that part of the air cools the electric motor and another part cools a part of the casing used as a handle. As shown, a percussive tool comprises a motor 3 driving a fan 20 and a crank 4, the latter driving a percussion body 6 which strikes an anvil 8 transmitting the blow to a bit 9. Air is induced by the fan 20 into a pot-shaped insert 24 carrying a motor bearing 23 and is divided into two streams, one passing axially through the insert, cooling the motor, and being discharged through a passage 29 directed towards the bit, the other passing through radial holes 25 in the insert, through an annular space 12 between a cylinder for the body 6 and a casing 2, and is discharged through bores 14 the axes of which are directed towards the bit tip, or through slot-like openings one of which is preferably formed in the end of the casing opposite a retaining stirrup 9<SP>1</SP>
