Abstract

1342403 Percussive tools ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 April 1971 [9 April 1970] 26590/71 Heading B4C An electric crank-driven hand-guided percussive tool has its motor 17, Fig. 1 on the suction side of a radial fan 31, an outlet in the tool housing being connected to passages communicating with a hollow cylindrical space via a sheath 10 between a guide tube 6 for a striker 27, and a protective casing 9 for the guide tube 6, apertures 37 also being provided in the housing on the pressure side of the fan 31 through which cooling air can be discharged to atmosphere. The fan may have straight blades, Fig. 3, when used with a reversible polyphase motor, or curved blades, Fig. 5 (not shown), when used with a universal motor. In operation air is drawn in at 36, Fig. 2, in the direction a flows around the bearings of the striker crank shaft 2 and join another stream b, entering via apertures 33 . . . 35, adjacent the motor 17. The combined air stream c is compressed by the fan and half to two thirds of the air is discharged via the apertures 37 as shown at d. The remainder flows through the space 10 and is discharged via apertures 38 as shown at e. A piston 26 moves longitudinally in the striker 27 and an anvil 29 moves longitudinally within the hand side of the tool bit holder 7 in alignment with the striker 27.
