Abstract

897,863. Moulding endless belt conveyers. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd., ACKERS H., and ROWNSON, DREW & CLYDESDALE Ltd. July 29, 1959 [Aug. 5, 1958], No. 25071/58. Addition to 749,208. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXX]. A conveyer belt has a base 6 and sides 5 which are reinforced and moulded as in the parent Specification. The belt has four plies of fabric reinforcement 7-10 of which 7, 9 and 10 extend to near the edges 12 while the reinforcement 8 terminates at 11, a short way beyond which the thickness of the blet is gradually decreased towards each edge. A mould for making the belt compises a female member 14, three male members 15, 16, 17 and a presser plate 18. In operation, the members 15, 17 are first apositioned adjacent the sides of the belt and pressure is applied to the plate 18 to force the member 16 downwards so that by wedge action members 15, 17 are forced apart until the plate 18 engages them.
