897,787. Stud and socket fastenings; anchornuts. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Aug. 5, 1960 [Aug. 10, 1959], No. 27316/59. Classes 44 and 89(1). A sheet metal fastening device for mounting in an aperture in a support comprises a base 1 having an aperture 2 for receiving a stud or screw, a flange 5 extending substantially normally from two opposite side edges of the base, a wing 3 extending outwardly of each flange in spaced parallel relation to the base and connected to the respective flanges by a narrow web-like extension 4 of said flanges, each wing being formed with an L-shaped slot so as to provide a longitudinally extending rigid inner wing portion connected to the web and a longitudinally extending resilient outer wing portion spaced from the web, the base of the fastener being insertable into an elongated-slot in the support so as to be positioned lengthwise thereof and to be rotated to extend across the width of the slot such that the fastener will be secured by the longitudinal free edges of the flanges abutting the rear face of the support and the wings abutting the front face thereof.
