In a holder for a sheet of film, e.g. an X-ray dental film holder, the light-sensitive film is disposed in a light-tight wrapping and is removably connected by a readily releasable mechanical engagement with a pulling strip which partially projects from the holder and when pulled serves to break open the holder and facilitate removal of the film. As shown, a sheet film A has its inner end embraced by the turned over end of a pulling strip B which is folded over to form a light-trap near its outer end which extends from the wrapping D at C, the pack being closed in a lead foil F and a label E. The pulling strip may comprise an upper paper sheet and a lower black paper sheet sandwiching a lead foil and the wrapping may comprise an aluminium foil or white paper sandwiched between an inner black paper and an outer lacquer or plastic layer. In alternative forms the pulling strip may be stamped out to form a film-receiving projection, adhered to the outer end of the film with either a simple lap joint or a fork embracing the film, or may be formed by a thread passed through a hole in the outer film end, or passed round the film to form a cradle as in Fig. 5b.
