Abstract

897,582. Vehicle chocks. DE COLNET, M. Dec. 1, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No.40786/59. Class 103 (1). A chocking device for retaining a vehicle wheel of an assembled motor vehicle which is to be transported by road or rail comprises a base 1 adapted to be located on a supporting element (e.g. the platform of a transporter vehicle), a pair of retaining plates 9 each adapted to pivot about a transverse axis 6, 7 placed part way along the length of the plate from a vehiclereceiving position 9<SP>1</SP> to a vehicleretaining position 9 whereby a vehicle wheel may be driven on to the chock from either end, arranged so that when a vehicle is driven on to the centre of the base it traverses an end of one plate and passes over the axis thereof and then acts upon the other ends of both plates to tilt the latter into the vehicle retaining position, and means to lock the plates in the vehicle-retaining position. The locking means comprises a pair of locking pins 13 which are adapted to engage apertures 12 in flanges 11 mounted on the chocking device structure 1, 10. Four metal studs 2, 3, 4 and 5 are provided on the base 1 of the device to engage holes formed in the floor or guide rails of the transporter vehicle.
