[Also in Group XXX] In an apparatus for mixing liquids in definite proportions, the liquids are supplied under air pressure from reservoirs 10 (see Fig. 3, not shown) and 12 to adjustable-stroke metering cylinders 16, 18 respectively having piston rods 86, 88 pivotably connected to a rocking lever arm 22 oscillatable about a fulcrum 94 by a double-acting compressed-air cylinder 80. Electric limit switches 104, 106 actuated by lever 22 control a compressed air valve 52 which in turn controls the admission of air to the cylinder 80 and to cylinders operating the fluid flow control valves 64 (see Fig. 1, not shown), 56 and 70. The quantity of fluid supplied on each stroke of the arm 22 may be adjusted by altering the position of the switches 104, 106 and hence the travel of the arm and of the pistons in the cylinders 16, 18; while the ratio of the liquids may be altered by moving the cylinder 18 along the arm 22, with which its rod 88 has a slidable connection 92. The liquids are supplied to a mixing chamber 20, Figs. 8, 9 through outlet conduits 66, 74; they may be premixed in the passage 146 as shown in Fig. 10, or supplied separately to the mixing chamber 20, Fig. 9, which contains a stirrer 123 comprising a frusto-conical body 126 having helical ridges 128 and rotated by a shaft 124. The mixing chamber has a jacket having inlet and outlet nozzles 156, 158 and a helical baffle 154 for the circulation of cooling water. The mixing chamber may deliver into receptacles standing on an intermittently moving conveyer belt actuated by a switch 108 tripped by the lever arm 22 in its downward motion.
