Abstract
896,008. Packaging; boxes. PLASCORP Inc. May 2, 1960 [May 4, 1959], No. 15438/60. Classes 18 and 94(1). [Also in Group XX] A liquid tight ease for contact lenses comprises a hollow body divided into two end sections and a central reservoir section by a pair of spaced, perforated barriers, a removable cap in each of the end sections, each cap having one or more projections from its inner surface and said central section being adapted to receive a liquid therein: the hollow body is made of a plastic material which is softer than methyl-methacrylate. The case shown in Fig. 2 comprises two cylinders 15, 13 interlockable by slots 29, 31 and projections 19, 21 and having pistons 49, 51 movable therein, the recesses 57 in which form the central liquid filled reservoir. The lenses are placed in concave hollows 55 which are connected by channels 59 to the reservoir. Caps 35, 33 are provided to screw on to the cylinders 13, 15. These caps have projections 43 for engaging surfaces 53 on the pistons so as to move them against the action of spring 61 and so that the liquid is forced to rise and submerge the lenses. When the caps are removed the spring 61 urges the pistons away from each other so that the liquid is drawn back into the reservoir and the lenses are easily removed. The surface 55 on the pistons may have slots or holes extending to the reservoir and the two parts 13, 15 may be formed in one piece. It is also desirable to have different markings 37, 39 on each cap to determine which lens should go in which compartment. Projections 45 may be provided in the cap to prevent the lens from sticking thereto.
