Abstract

895,906. Valves. LINFORTH, F. C. A., and SISMEY, D. June 26, 1959 [March 21, 1959], No. 9867/59. Class 135. [Also in Group XIII] A furnace exhaust flue 10, Fig. 1, has two valves A, B mounted on a common base and connected to the flue 10, the valves being on opposite sides of the furnace and each comprising a cylindrical casing 7, Fig. 3, with an air or fuel gas supply port 1, a furnace flue port 2, and an exhaust flue port 3, whilst in the casing is a rotary cylindrical closure member 8 embodying ports 5, 6; both casing and closure member ports are spaced 90 degrees apart. The two valves are out of phase by 90 degrees so that when valve member 8 of valve A is positioned to interconnect ports 5, 1 and 6, 2, valve B interconnects ports 6, 3. Upon rotating the members 8 through 90 degrees in the reverse direction the flow through the furnace is reversed each valve being arranged so that one pair of ports closes before the other pair open. Two pairs of valves may be used to reverse the flow of both air and fuel gas. The valves are actuated manually in concert or automatically at timed invervals.
