Abstract

895,833. Converting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 3, 1959 [June 4, 1958], No. 18990/59. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] Pulses for controlling a gas or vapour discharge tube p2 are fed at a, b to a single-shot blocking oscillator comprising a transistor p1 whose emitter-collector circuit is connected to the primary winding of a transformer t1. This transformer is provided with a secondary winding t12 supplying the grid voltage to the tube p2 through a resistor r2 and with a feedback winding t13 connected to the base-emitter circuit. As shown, a valve n2 prevents the input pulses from being short-circuited by the feed-back winding. In an alternative arrangement this valve is bridged by a resistor and a voltage source is included in the feed-back circuit so that collector current is caused to flow exclusively through the base and not the emitter. A valve n1 and resistor r1 are provided to permit demagnetizing current to flow in the transformer during the blocking period. The magnitude and duration of the pulses to the valve p2 are constant being determined by the saturation of the transformer core and the dimensions of the feed-back branch.
