Abstract
895,713. Transferring load-trolleys to and from vehicles. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Sept. 26, 1958 [Sept. 28, 1957], No. 30452/57. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A wheeled bridge 10 for use in transferring a wheeled trolley 11 to and from a vehicle 12 has at one end a jack 21 which acts between ground-engaging foot 29 and the vehicle 12 to raise the platform of the vehicle 12 level with the bridge 10 and simultaneously to locate the bridge 10. Independently operable jacks are preferably provided on each side of the bridge so that opposite sides of the tail of the vehicle 12 may be raised to different heights and similar devices may be provided at the opposite end of the bridge 10. In the form illustrated the jack 21 is connected to a lever 23 pivoted at 24 to one of a pair of undercarriages 16 for the bridge and guided to remain in a vertical plane by members 25 engaging verticals 17 on the under-frame. When the bridge is not in use the levers 23 rest on stops 36 while the feet 29 are retracted by springs 32. The two underframes 16 illustrated may be replaced by a single under-frame. The invention may be used in connection with the loading system of Specification 703,581.
