Abstract
895,516. Screening apparatus. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. June 3, 1960 [June 8, 1959], No. 19827/60. Class 117. A screen body 13 with screen decks 14, 15 is resiliently supported on a stationary structure 12, and is gyrated by a transverse driving shaft 30 mounted in inner bearings 31, 32 mounted in the side plates of the screen body, and in outer bearings 35, 36. The latter are offset from the axis of the inner bearings and are enclosed by housings 37, 38 resiliently connected both to the screen body and to the supporting structure. Each outer bearing housing has extension arms 39, 40, Fig. 2, connected at their ends to the screen body by resilient mountings 51, 52, and each housing is resiliently connected to the stationary structure by a pair of resilient mountings 53, 54. The latter thus constitute supporting mountings for the screen body which is driven by a motor 46, belt 43 and pulley 42. The drive shaft carries flywheels 33, 34 and the arrangement is such that the bearing extension arms are stationary when the screen body is gyrated and vibration of the building in which the apparatus is mounted is substantially eliminated. In a modification the screen body is suspended from an overhead structure by four resiliently mounted hangers attached to the outer bearing mountings, and the driving motor is supported by a transverse platform carried by those mountings.
