Abstract
A bright metallic finish is produced on a metal or plastics article by coating the surface of the article with an epoxy resin lacquer, depositing a film of metal, e.g. aluminium, gold, silver or copper, on the coated surface by vacuum evaporation, and providing the film of metal with a top coating of epoxy resin lacquer. Each lacquer coating may be applied by dipping or spraying and stoved after application, but both stoving and air-drying lacquers may be used. A vacuum-coating apparatus is described (see Group II). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 764,700.
