894,317. Weighing apparatus. ZAVODY V.I. LENINA, PLZEN, NARODNI PODNIK. July 4, 1959, No. 23062/59. Class 143. In an automatic feed weighing system for cupola furnace charging, the weight of a charge is automatically compensated for any overload fed in the preceding charge. The compensating device comprises a lever 4 which is connected to the weighbeam 1 of the scale 13 by which the charges are weighed and which carries a rack 5 acting on a pinion 6. The pinion 6 carries a pawl 8 which cooperates with a ratchet on a disc 7 to rotate the latter as the weighbeam 1 turns until a pin 10 on the disc operates a switch 11 by which the cut-off of feed to the scale is effected. A fixed pawl 9 co-operating with a second ratchet on the disc prevents its reverse rotation when the scale is unloaded so that the amount by which the pin 10 overruns the position of the switch 11 in one weighing causes a corresponding shortening of its travel to cut-off position in the next weighing. In the apparatus shown the weighted bell-crank lever 15 operates to reduce the sensitivity of the weigher when out of balance.
