Abstract

894,208. Inclinometers. MARDYKE ELECTRICS Ltd. Oct. 6, 1959 [Oct. 22, 1958], No. 33760/58. Class 40(1). [Also in Group XXXVI] An inclinometer comprises four plates P2 mutually at right-angles, on a base BS surrounding a pendulum P, the variation in capacitance between the pendulum and each of the plates P2 being indicative of the deflection relative to the base, and measured in four capacitance-responsive circuits each comprising a transistor beatfrequency oscillator variable in frequency by the capacitance between P, P2, which supplies a bandpass amplifier whose output is variable in response to the capacitance variations, and is rectified and amplified to operate an indicator. The oscillator may alternatively operate at a fixed frequency, and the band-pass amplifier is tuned by the variable capacitance.
