Abstract

894,087. Chisels. REED & CO. Ltd., ALBERT E. Feb. 7, 1961 [Dec. 30, 1959], No. 44321/59. Class 61. A tool for cutting up reels of paper or other tightly wound material comprises a substantially flat base 1 having a leading portion 7 with tip 8 adapted to be inserted between adjacent layers of the material, a blade 3 having a cutting edge 9 upwardly directed with respect to the base 1 and making an acute angle with the leading portion 7 and a shank 2 suitable to receive impacts. The base 1 is provided on the underside with one or more longitudinal grooves 6. The shank 2 is adapted to be driven by a pneumatic hammer. In a modification a shank is provided of any convenient shape for holding in the hand and incorporating a head which can be struck by a hammer.
