Abstract

The process of the parent Specification for dyeing or printing textile materials and providing them with an anti-crease or anti-shrink finish, by treatment in an aqueous medium with a resinforming composition known to produce an anticrease or anti-shrink finish on textiles, an acid catalyst and a dyestuff containing a reactive halogen atom or other group capable of reacting with the fibre or the resin, followed by baking, is applied to natural or regenerated cellulose textiles, the resin-forming composition being an acetal and the dyestuff being one which contains at least one 1 : 3 : 5-triazine ring carrying one or two amino, N-methylolamino or N-alkoxymethylamino groups. Specified acetals are the condensation products of aldehydes, such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, glyoxal, malondialdehyde, succindialdehyde, adipaldehyde, hydroxyadipaldehyde or terephthalaldehyde, with alcohols, such as methanol, butanol and 2-methoxyethanol, glycols, such as ethylene- or diethylene-glycol, or polyhydroxy compounds, such as glycerol, pentaerythritol or dipentaerythritol. The dyestuffs may be of the azo, nitro, anthraquinone or phthalocyanine series. Examples of dyeing are given. Specifications 763,323, 776,468, 780,043 and 785,222 also are referred to.
