Abstract

893,375. Injection moulding rivets. SHELDON (WALSALL) Ltd., GEORGE. Oct. 13, 1960 [Oct. 16, 1959], No. 35032/59. Class 87(2). Two layers of a flexible material such as leather, textile, or a plastic material, are joined by injecting nylon 24 into preformed registering holes 18 in the layers, which are held between mould halves 19, 20, to form rivets 16 having heads 17. The cavities 21, 22 of the mould halves are shaped so that the top and bottom heads of adjacent links are joined by integral strips of nylon. In the embodiment of Fig. 8 (not shown), the rivets are formed without these links and in the embodiment of Fig. 10 (not shown), alternate links only are provided at the top and bottom of the layers.
