Abstract
893,090. Water aerators. AGHIDES, E. P. July 18, 1958, No. 23109/58. Class 14 (1). A water aerator has a wire mesh screen 17, Fig. 1, adapted to break up streams of water issuing from a diaphragm 12 and to mix it with air induced through apertures 11, the screen 17 comprising a disc made by reducing a mesh disc to a predetermined size by pressing one or more corrugations 16 on the disc, the size of the openings in the disc being substantially uniform throughout the surface of the disc. As shown in Fig. 1, the diaphragm 12 is constructed as described in Specification 872,787. More than one screen may be provided and the form of corrugation may vary. As shown in Fig. 3, a rubber element 40 engages the faucet as described in Specification 451,142 and a seating 41 locates two diaphragms 42, 43 with their orifices out of alignment. Two screens 44, 45 are provided, the corrugations 46 of one resting on and being perpendicular to the corrugations 46 of the other. The screens are mounted in a ball 47 rotatable in a spherical socket 48 and the ball 47 includes grooves 49 for the entry of air. Other modifications are described in which the diaphragm has a central downwardly projecting stud for supporting the screens. Specifications 685,463 and 809,362 also are referred to.
