Abstract
892,826. Rectilinear combing machines. SPINNEREIMASCHINENBAU KARL - MARX - STADT VEB. Jan. 19, 1959, No. 1973/59. Class 120(1) A Nasmith type combing machine has a pivoted linkage that effects oscillatory movement of the top comb, the linkage consisting of an arm 2 rotatable on a shaft 8, a guide member 3 rotatable on a shaft 11, and a link 4 provided at one end with a lateral extension 10 that carries the top comb 1. The arrangement allows the comb 1 to follow a path which extends substantially parallel to the fibre tuft during penetration of the tuft by the comb. Drive to the linkage is from a crank or circular eccentric 5 and for the arm 2 from a cam disc. In an alternative form of linkage, link 4 and extension 10 are integrally formed and the guide member 3 includes an arm.
