Abstract

915,669. Cigar-making machines. ARENCO A.B. Aug. 29, 1961 [Sept. 15, 1960], No. 31129/61. Class 130. A cigar-wrapping mechanism has a tucking needle 3 slidingly journalled in a guiding sleeve 4 which is reciprocably movable in the longitudinal direction of the cigar bunch B and which is provided with a free end directed obliquely against the end of the bunch. The needle 3 is journalled in an opening 40 formed in a bushing 5 on the free end of the guiding sleeve 4. The needle is attached to a stem 6 and can be moved from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 3 by means of a cam-operated lever 20. The guiding sleeve 4 is attached to a sliding sleeve 7 journalled in bearings 8 in a frame 9 and movable toward and away from the cigar bunch B by means of a second camoperated lever 14. The cams operating levers 20 and 14 are mounted on a shaft 11 journalled in the frame 9. Shaft 11 also carries a cam 25 which reciprocates an arm 24 for imparting rotary movement to the sliding sleeve 7. In operation, the needle is first moved out of the sleeve 4, the needle and sleeve then being both moved to engage a bunch B. The needle is rotated through about 1.5 to 2 revolutions by the arm 24 in the same direction and with the same velocity as the bunch B.
